How To Restore A Brilliant Shine After Wet Sanding! - Project FJ

In today's video, Project FJ literally has its time to shine! Nick introduces the 1971 Toyota FJ40 which has been in the background for nearly five years. After months of restoration and piecing it back together it has come to the final step...paint correction. Fresh paint looks like wet glass but upon further inspection there are fish eyes, nibs and runs that must be wet sanded to remove. Rubbing out these imperfections makes the surface smooth but it also makes it very dull and lacking luster. Starting off today by wiping away the years of accumulated dust using Swift Wipe Waterless Wash. Next, a Light Clay Bar treatment gently lifts embedded contaminants and fallout to revive a smooth surface and prepare it for polish. The TORQ 10FX is the go-to machine for bringing back a beautiful shine, utilizing V34 Hybrid Compound with an Orange Pad to diminish the 2000 grit sanding marks followed by a pass using the Green Hex-Logic Pad and V36 Cutting Polish for a final polish. Lastly, adding a fine coat of JetSeal with a Black Hex-Logic Pad means less spent product, easy removal and brilliant finish. ••••••••••••••• Products Used in Today's Video ••••••••••••••••• ➜ Green Workhorse Microfiber Towel: https://ift.tt/2fyXkve ➜ Swift Wipe Waterless Wash: https://ift.tt/2GRYIFs ➜ Wipe Out: https://ift.tt/2lMWgDc ➜ Light Clay Bar & Luber: https://ift.tt/2JatwO7 ➜ TORQ 10FX: https://ift.tt/2wYr2km ➜ JetSeal: https://ift.tt/1lGhDMr •••••••••• ● Website: www.ChemicalGuys.com ● Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=chemicalguys ● Subscribe to our newsletter: https://ift.tt/2vjCz9T ● Like Us on Facebook: https://ift.tt/2uJzRxo ● Follow us on Instagram: https://ift.tt/2vjwfPB

The Beistegui Family Collecting Tradition

Juan de Beistegui was the third generation of collectors to focus solely on masterpieces. ‘It is unique to find a family with three generations of collectors, each of which had different interests and chose to focus solely on masterpieces,’ says Simon de Monicault, Director of Decorative Arts at Christie’s in Paris. ‘Art and collecting were in the Beistegui family’s DNA.’ The collecting gene first manifested itself in Carlos de Beistegui, who was born in Mexico City in 1863. His family had originally migrated from Spain in the 18th century before amassing a great fortune. In 1876 the Beistegui family settled permanently in France where Carlos, who had ambitions of becoming an artist, enrolled as a pupil of Léon Bonnat. Find out more: https://ift.tt/2LxT6hb

How To Clean, Protect and Enhance Trim! - Chemical Guys DIY

Harmful UV rays dry out plastic and rubber components giving a dull or gray finish which will crack or fail if left untreated. Faded rubber and trim components not only looks nasty but it is also degrading the surface. In today's video, Nick shields the trim of this brand new Tesla Model X. Proper prep work insures a longer lasting shine as well as adequate coverage. Beginning with Trim Clean, we gently remove previous dressings and body oils, this also works well for removing sealants and waxes that come into contact with the textured rubber and plastic pieces. Stained plastic leaves a chalky finish that takes away from the overall look of the vehicle. Trim Clean easily takes care of these eye sores. Next, apply a coat of your favorite dressing to restore a deep gloss. We chose to use V.R.P. for a lustrous shine that is dry-to-the touch. Repelling UV rays and stains through months of washes and daily abuse. ••••••••••••••• Products Used in Today's Video ••••••••••••••••• ➜ Green Workhorse Microfiber Towel https://ift.tt/2fyXkve ➜ V.R.P. What is a guarantor mortgage?

Find out how you could get on to the property ladder with a guarantor mortgage. With guarantor mortgages, a parent or close family member guarantees the mortgage debt. This means that if the first-time buyer misses their mortgage repayments, the guarantor will have to cover them. Traditionally with this type of mortgage choice, parents were responsible for repaying the whole loan if their child defaulted on their mortgage payments. There are, however, increasing numbers of mortgages on the market that place limits on the amount the guarantor is responsible for. These mortgages come with risks for both the parent and the buyer, so it’s important to consider very carefully whether they are the right option for you For more expert advice on guarantor mortgages, family offset mortgages and family deposit mortgages visit https://ift.tt/2we2UIA. How To Get Rid Of Hard Water Spots On Paint & Glass! - Chemical Guys

Why is it that water spots are so difficult to remove? We often are questioned, "how to remove water spots from paint and glass." So in today's video, Nick explains how to easily remove stubborn water spots that have begun to etch the paint and glass on this brand new black Tesla Model X. Water spots can stain and etch paintwork due to the calcium and minerals in the water so you want to make sure to not allow the water spots to remain on the surface. If water spots are left on the surface for too long it may require a polish or even repaint to correct the finish. Apply a small amount to an applicator and work into the surface until water spots have been removed and once the desired results have been achieved, neutralize the area with water to make it easier to remove the spent product. Wax or seal the area to help prevent future contamination and water spot etching. ••••••••••••••• Products Used in Today's Video ••••••••••••••••• ➜ Heavy Duty Water Spot Remover: https://ift.tt/2MI60xO ➜ Microfiber Applicator: https://ift.tt/2iCqiJ1 •••••••••• ● Website: www.ChemicalGuys.com ● Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=chemicalguys ● Subscribe to our newsletter: https://ift.tt/2vjCz9T ● Like Us on Facebook: https://ift.tt/2uJzRxo ● Follow us on Instagram: https://ift.tt/2vjwfPB

Activity tracker stress challenge - Garmin Vivosport vs Fitbit Alta HR

What's the best activity tracker for accurately monitoring heart-rate in stressful situations? We put the Garmin Vivosport activity tracker against the Fitbit Alta HR in a creepy crawly challenge to find out which wearable is best at monitoring an increased heart-rate in stressful situations. Using a professional-grade heart-rate monitor as a control to see how close each wearable gets to our actual heart-rate, we came face-to-face with a baby owl, a snake and a tarantula spider. The Garmin tracker has a built-in heart-rate monitor which can be used to report on stress levels. This can be viewed on the device, or via an app. It costs £149.50. The Fitbit continuously tracks your heartbeat through a wristband and is similarly compatible with both iPhone and Android phones. It costs £119.99. The verdict? Both devices were good at monitoring our heart-rate in stressful situations but while the Garmin Vivosport slightly overestimated our increased heart beats per minute, the Fitbit Alta HR underestimated our bpm. Sainbury's coleslaw taste test: Taste the Difference vs Deli-Style

Coleslaw is a must-have for any picnic and with so many pre-packed varieties in the supermarkets it can be impossible to know what to go for. In this blind taste test we want to see whether volunteers can taste the difference between, well, Sainsbury’s premium Taste The Difference coleslaw versus it’s cheaper Deli-Style range. The verdict? It was a no-brainer. Each of our taste testers correctly identified the premium brand over the more standard option. The Deli-Style coleslaw lost points for its lack of carrot and watery consistency, as well as it’s crunchy texture. The Taste The Difference version was noted for having a creamier consistency (no doubt thanks to the double cream which features as an ingredient) and all round nicer, more luxurious appearance. This challenge is just for fun and is in no way related to our official Which? taste tests. For in-depth summer food reviews visit https://ift.tt/2ul5mLu. Art of Manliness Podcast #119: Why Fathers Matter with Paul Raeburn

Originally published June 2015. Until fairly recently, most of the scientific research about parental influence on children focused on mothers and left out dads. But recent studies have shown that fathers have an important role in the development of children — from conception into adulthood. Award-winning science writer Paul Raeburn highlights all this new research in his book Do Fathers Matter? What Science Is Telling Us About the Parent We Overlooked. In this podcast, I talk to Paul about some of the research he highlights in his book. Show Highlights What makes human fathers unique from other mammalian fathers Why there’s so little research about the influence fathers have on children What a hunter-gatherer tribe in South Africa can teach us about fatherhood A man’s “biological clock” when it comes to having children How the health of the father can affect the long-term health of his child even before the child is born How a man’s hormones change when his wife gets pregnant and when she delivers their child Why roughhousing with his kids is one of the best things a father can do And much more! Are premium bonds worth buying?

Premium bonds are still the nation's favourite, but are they worth it? We weigh up the pros and cons of this popular tax-free NS&I savings product. Instead of paying interest, like traditional savings accounts, every premium bond is entered into a monthly prize draw, with winners being selected at random by National Savings & Investments (NS&I). You can win tax-free prizes worth £25 to £1m every month, and buy premium bonds on behalf of children. NS&I is backed by the Treasury so 100% of your money is safe. However, the maximum you can invest is £50,000, and you won't get a guaranteed return on your money or a regular income. Landing a prize is a lottery so you could win nothing at all. American Pride and Independence Writ Large

Specialist Peter Klarnet tells the stories behind two precious pieces of Americana — a proof copy of the Declaration of Independence, and the first dated printing of The Star-Spangled Banner in private hands. ‘If the Declaration of Independence gives the reasons why the colonies decided to leave the British Empire,’ says Peter Klarnet, Books and Manuscripts specialist at Christie’s in New York, ‘then The Star-Spangled Banner marks the conclusion of that struggle.’ In 1820 — roughly 40 years after the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress and signed in Philadelphia — Secretary of State John Quincy Adams commissioned a young printer, William J. Stone, to execute a full-scale facsimile of the Declaration, which had badly deteriorated in the intervening years. It took Stone almost three years to complete his engraving work on the copper plate. Find out more: https://ift.tt/2P2UP18

How To Finish Your Detail For The Best Results! - Chemical Guys

It's the last day of the detail series on the custom built 1965 Mustang GT 350 H aka "Pegasus". Wrapping up and putting the finishing touch on this beauty consists of removing any surface oils or remnant polish to insure that the surface is perfectly clean. This totally clean finish means that there won't be grime masking swirls or imperfections that would be otherwise overlooked and also, coatings bond better to a completely bare surface. Adding a coat of Black Wax to bare paint will guarantee a long lasting, durable shine for months! Applying a fine layer over the entire vehicle enhances a deep lustrous shine that can't be beat. ••••••••••••••• Products Used in Today's Video ••••••••••••••••• ➜ Black Wax https://ift.tt/2vxU9aT ➜ Wipe Out Surface Prep Spray https://ift.tt/2lMWgDc ➜ Happy Ending Microfiber Towel https://ift.tt/2vJADHO •••••••••••••••••••• ● Website: www.ChemicalGuys.com ● Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=chemicalguys ● Subscribe to our newsletter: https://ift.tt/2vjCz9T ● Like Us on Facebook: https://ift.tt/2uJzRxo ● Follow us on Instagram: https://ift.tt/2vjwfPB

The Blazing Comet of Pauline Boty

Award-winning author Ali Smith describes how she came to discover the life and work of ‘the first female pioneer of the British Pop art movement’. ‘I was working on a book called Autumn,’ recalls the multi award-winning author, playwright and journalist Ali Smith, who has four times been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. ‘And I came upon a picture by a female artist I’d never heard of. She was a Pop artist. I was like, “There’s been a female Pop artist?” So I looked her up and up came these amazing images of things I’d never seen — [they were] so colourful and so full of energy and brio.’ The artist, Smith discovered, was British and rose to fame in the 1960s. Her name was Pauline Boty. The Scottish author of acclaimed novels such as Hotel World (2001), The Accidental (2005) and How to Be Both (2014) was captivated and in 2016 she wrote about Boty for The Guardian newspaper, describing her as ‘the first female pioneer of the British Pop art movement’. In our film, Smith goes further, declaring that this charismatic, rebellious, free-spirited figure ‘was pretty much the earliest feminist artist’. Find out more: https://ift.tt/2O7TMLT

Smoothie challenge: NutriBullet Balance vs Sage The Boss To Go

With so much hype surrounding the new NutriBullet Balance blender, we just had to try it out in this week’s episode of Challenge Wednesdays. This latest NutriBullet costs £150 and comes with an app that analyses the nutritional content of your smoothies. We’ve pitted it against Sage’s The Boss to Go - a premium compact blender costing around £100. We’ve created a three-pronged smoothie challenge (see recipes below) to see which blender makes the smoothest drinks with the least amount of froth or separation. Each recipe is exactly the same and contains the same amount of ingredients (although with the Sage being smaller we’ve ended up using slightly fewer ingredients in the green smoothie so as not to overpack it). To make the challenge as fair as possible we’re blending each drink for 30 seconds exactly. The verdict? We think the Sage just beat the NutriBullet, since there was less separation in the green smoothie and it blended the frozen banana and berry smoothies with fewer ‘bits’. We were impressed with both blenders, however, and we liked the fact that the NutriBullet was able to make bigger drinks. We hope you enjoy this video. Remember it is in no way related to our official Which? tests - these are conducted in lab conditions and assess how well each blender tackles a range of tricky ingredients and recipes including soup, pesto and ice. See which blenders we recommend https://ift.tt/2OvpMKS And check out our blender advice guides, as well as information about our official testing https://ift.tt/2O1kOEN Let us know which products you’d like to see go head to head by commenting below!
