Chu Chu – Photography, Calligraphy and Nature | Studio Visit

The Hangzhou-based artist on the studio as a space in which to ‘recreate a connection’ with nature, and why ‘the creative act is a combination of improvisation and slow refinement’. Chinese artist Chu Chu studied oil painting at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, and received a PhD in calligraphy in 2015. She has since devoted herself to painting in ink, seeking to incorporate this art form into her work in photography and calligraphy. ‘The creative act is a combination of improvisation and slow refinement,’ says Chu Chu in her Hangzhou studio. ‘Photography is a passionate affair to me. "Detail Proof" Challenger Movie Car - Director's Cut Detail

Chemical Guys are no strangers to iconic cars, but this 1971 Dodge Challenger had us star-struck for a bit. Quentin Tarantino had Kurt Russell perform dangerous stunts in Deathproof and the car suffered from it. Nick goes into full detail on what you can and cannot do on a car that has seen this much carnage. A lot of the aspects on this Challenger have been staged to appear worse than it actually is so we don't want to wash off any of that movie magic, just like an actor/actress removing their makeup. The Wucai Fish Jar: A Gem of the Eastern Renaissance

Liang-Lin Chen, specialist in Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art at Christie’s in Hong Kong, explains the ‘deceptively simple’ composition of this vessel made for the Jiajing emperor. In the Jiajing period, an era of the Ming dynasty that stretched from 1522–66, the production of wucai, or ‘five enamel’ vessels, reached new heights in both quality and quantity. Prior to the reign of the Jiajing emperor, Imperial kilns primarily produced small objects suitable for handling. But in the Jiajing reign, porcelain began to be produced on a larger scale — a major breakthrough in porcelain technology. This fish jar is the earliest type of large polychrome-decorated porcelain made by the Imperial kilns. With a height of 46cm, it was made in sections. Painted in wucai with underglaze blue, it required firing at least three times because of its complex colour scheme. Alexander Heinrici, Andy Warhol’s favourite silkscreen printer reveals the special skills that have led many of the biggest names in post-war American art to seek him out, and explains why he believes the medium is the ‘most immediate, painterly form of printing.’ ‘My main profession is to make the artist look good,’ says Alexander Heinrici, reflecting on his distinguished career as a master printer. ‘The artist is the creative element and he gives you a riddle to solve, and you solve it.’ Born in 1945 in Vienna, Heinrici opened his own printer’s workshop in 1968, where he worked with key Austrian, German and Swiss artists. One year later, having outgrown the Viennese art scene, he moved to New York where he opened a print workshop. ‘My routine was to go to Max’s Kansas City [a New York restaurant and nightclub] which was the hangout for the artists,’ he recalls. ‘Jasper Johns was my first client — it was exciting.’ Word of the printer’s talent got around, and soon enough, along came Andy Warhol. ‘He just showed up one day,’ Heinrici says. How To Make A Used Car Look New! - Chemical Guys Car Care

Chemical Guys demonstrate how to correctly remove scratches and swirls from your car's paintwork. Chemical Guys also demonstrate how to correctly use a polisher. In addition, Chemical Guys go over the differences of the V-line polishes, and explain which polish is best for each situation. Lastly, Chemical Guys explain how to apply a spray wax to paint, and how to remove it. The audience has been watching intently, but they still have questions. What’s the difference between the V-Line polishes? How do I use them to get rid of those pesky scratches? HELP US!!!! Class is in session, and Professor Nick is prepared to give his keynote speech on the finer points of polishing; pay attention and take extensive notes because there’s a lot of ground to cover. In the last video, we showed some DIY techniques on how to clean and clay bar your vehicle. The canvas we’re working on is a Chevy Cruze with a metallic flake paint job. In order to restore the paint on this vehicle, it’s important to note how to utilize the V-line of polishes. V32 and V34 are compounds containing heavy abrasives that remove deep scratches, and restore the shiny deep luster we all desire from our car’s paint. V36 is a hybrid compound that breaks down into a fine polish. V38 is a jeweling polish that refines the paint in order to remove buffer trails. The tips you see here are something you can do yourself, and achieve results like the professionals of the automotive industry. Before you begin polishing, you must give the car a thorough car wash, which was done in the previous video. Dab the appropriate compound on your pad in five dime-sized drops, apply the compound to the paint in a 2x2 area, place your dual-action polisher on the paint, set it to speed setting one, and spread the polish on the paint. Art critic, Alastair Sooke, investigates the fascinating rediscovery of Leonardo’s Salvator Mundi, one of fewer than 20 surviving paintings accepted as from the artist’s own hand. In 2011, the dramatic public unveiling of Salvator Mundi (‘Saviour of the World’) in the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan at The National Gallery in London caused a worldwide media sensation. Painted by one of history’s greatest and most renowned artists, whose works are exceedingly rare — fewer than 20 paintings in existence are generally accepted as from the artist’s own hand — it was the first discovery of a painting by Leonardo da Vinci since 1909, when the Benois Madonna, now in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, came to light. ‘Salvator Mundi is a painting of the most iconic figure in the world by the most important artist of all time,’ says Loic Gouzer, Chairman, Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s in New York. ‘The opportunity to bring this masterpiece to the market is an honour that comes around once in a lifetime.
