How to Detail a Red Car and Bring Back Shine! Ferrari 308 GTS

Who doesn’t love Ferraris and mustaches? We know we do, but when this classic 308GTS came into Detail Garage, it had its share of adventures and showed it. The Rosso Corsa on tan color combination screams classic Ferrari and was made even more iconic after "Magnum, PI." However, in order to admire that bright finish again, it would be necessary to correct the paint on this car, which was scratched more than a cat post. The tan interior also showed prevalent signs of age and use and was more than a few shades darker than new. Watch and follow along as resident detailer Nick gives it the signature Chemical Guys express detail and brings it back to life in no time! What do you do when you’re unsure of the integrity of the paint you’re going to polish? This Ferrari has been repainted at some point in its life, but that’s all the information the team at Chemical Guys has about this particular car. Despite the rough condition of the paint, Nick will have to be careful when polishing due to the age of the car and so many unknowns. Which polish would you use on a car with an unfamiliar paint history? Watch to see which polish our expert detailer, Nick, chooses! While Rosso Corsa is the classic Ferrari color, the signature Ferrari red presents special problems that other colors don’t face. Red cars absorb UV sunlight more intensely than other colors and tend to fade quicker and lighten up over time. This presents a unique problem as we all know Magnum PI just wouldn’t be the same with a Pink Ferrari! While the wax cures, Nick will proceed to the interior of the Ferrari, where he will address the staining and darkening issues of the Ferrari interior. This vintage Ferrari interior was so filthy, we got to wondering maybe it was the car actual car used for filming in the humid and muddy Hawaii climate… after all the floor mats were so filthy that Nick was literally speechless for second when he first pulled them out! Watch the techniques Nick will use to clean the floor mats to bring back the original tan color with Chemical Guys Nonsense Cleaner. What’s the easiest way to take of stains? Prevent them in the first place! Watch and learn as Nick applies Chemical Guys Fabric Guard to the interior of the Ferrari carpets and upholstery in order to create a waterproof barrier to prevent all those future stains and spills from setting in and more work in the future. With the Ferrari 308 restored, it’s ready for a comeback… We just need someone to play Thomas Magnum. Now accepting applications… mustache not required!
