Studio Visit with Artist Alexis McGrigg | Christie's

Contemporary artist Alexis McGrigg explores themes of blackness, space, spirituality, identity and collective consciousness in her work. Using her physical body as a reference, McGrigg’s ritual of working the surface helps her to get in tune with herself and her ancestors to depict different experiences and traumas onto the canvas. McGrigg’s work is featured in our Say it Loud (I’m Black and I’m Proud) online selling exhibition, curated by Destinee Ross-Sutton (@desti.knee) - our first exhibition dedicated to the promotion and empowerment of Black art. Say it Loud (I’m Black and I’m Proud). 31 July-18 August, online. -- Subscribe to Christie's YouTube: http://goo.gl/Vmh7Hf Sign up to Christie's Weekly: https://goo.gl/kc8qpV Follow Christie's on: Facebook: https://ift.tt/2elC9Zg Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChristiesInc Instagram: https://ift.tt/2iJ3lGm Pinterest: https://ift.tt/2elCafM
