Using An Orbital Polisher To Revive Scratched Up Paint! - Chemical Guys

Retouching your severely scratched and swirled up paint doesn't have to be difficult! In today's video, Nick shows you how to use the TORQ 15DA on a scratched up Mazda. DA stands for 'Dual Axis' which means the machine head rotates on two separate axis. The inner one spins in a very tight circle, while the outer one spins on a wide circle. This gives you a large 15mm throw to help cover much more surface area in less time, and, helps to prevent building up an excess of heat in one area greatly reducing the chance of burning the paint. To start off, Nick used a Grey Medium Duty Clay Bar along with a plentiful amount of Clay Luber in order to extract all embedded particles from the pores of the paint. After removing the junk and getting a much more accurate assessment of the paint situation, he chose to perform a two-step using the V-Line. Starting with V36 and an Orange Hex Logic Cutting Pad, Nick shows you how to cut the paint and remove the scratches and swirls on the hood. After you achieve the level of cut you like, you can then swap out to V38 to jewel and refine the paint and give it those final glossy touches. Using a White Hex Logic Pad is ideal for this type of polish! Make sure after you've completed all your hard work to PROTECT your paint with either a wax, sealant, glaze, ceramic, or all of the above!
