Installing Large Bear by Tom Otterness at Rockefeller Center

Here is how we installed 'Large Bear' by Tom Otterness from Barney A. Ebsworth Collection at Rockefeller Center in November 2018. 'Large Bear' is a towering example of Otterness’s unique visual vocabulary. Given to creating stylized, cartoon-like figures and objects, the artist transcends the traditional role of bronze monuments to comment on societal issues and to activate the space around his work. Large Bear is nearly ten feet tall, and features a slump-shouldered ursine looking downward. It’s simply-rendered features are difficult to discern. Is this a look of dejection or one of surprise? -- Subscribe to Christie's YouTube: http://goo.gl/Vmh7Hf Sign up to Christie's Weekly: https://goo.gl/kc8qpV Follow Christie's on: Facebook: https://ift.tt/2elC9Zg Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChristiesInc Instagram: https://ift.tt/2iJ3lGm Pinterest: https://ift.tt/2elCafM
