Our new online selling exhibition, Say it Loud (I’m Black and I’m Proud), celebrates young, emerging, and mid-career artists from across Africa and its diaspora. In this video, we visit artist Accra Shepp, who looks to photograph people ‘at their most honest’. As an artist in lockdown, Shepp discusses his approach to documenting protests for social justice and his most recent body of work, 'The COVID Journals'. Portraiture involves a level of vulnerability from both the photographer and the subject. “The ability of the still to consolidate and condense a set of emotions, a set of conditions, in a very small area that you can look at continuously and be with…makes the still photograph so resonant”. How To Detail Black Paint! - Chemical Guys

Black and dark color paintwork is loved for its lustrous shine and extreme depth but to achieve a flawless finish means performing the right steps of the detailing process. Give your paint a smooth as glass finish with a clay bar treatment. The synthetic material extracts embedded contaminants that clot the pores of the paint, leaving a rough texture that also dulls the finish. After clay barring and inspecting the paintwork of this BMW it was determined that polishing would be necessary to remove scratches and swirls that were caused by improper washing and drying techniques. The abrasive combination of pad and chemical diminish a fine layer of clear coat to refine a beautiful shine. Once desired level of paint correction has been achieved it is time to protect the surface, using glaze to mask minor imperfections while adding depth is like adding make-up to your paint. In partnership with visionary curator Destinee Ross-Sutton, Christie's is proud to present 'SAY IT LOUD (I'm Black and I'm Proud)', a virtual exhibition dedicated to the promotion and empowerment of Black art. The exhibition spotlights 22 Black artists who explore the notion of identity and perception, providing them with a global platform for the celebration and amplification of their work. In this video, artist Cary Fagan talks about the challenges and rewards of working with film. "What I love about film is that it slows you down. It allows you to think about what you are about to do before you take image". Since dropping out of art school, Cary spent a decade developing a consistent style and set of skills while learning the ins and outs of the craft. "Photography is my teacher. When you make a mistake, you are able to reflect on that mistake."
