Eileen Gray’s rare ‘Transat’ armchair

A highlight of our Design auction in New York on 20 June – this ‘Transat’ chair by renowned architect and furniture designer Eileen Gray has remained in the same private collection, unexhibited in public, for the last 25 years. It is believed that only a dozen examples of the ‘Transat’ were ever made. Gray conceived the chairs for E1027, the radical modern villa she designed with Jean Badovici. Through building the house, she was inspired to explore new materials and possibilities, developing a distinct change in her furniture design. The ‘Transat’ chairs perfectly exemplify this new spirit. Find out more: http://bit.ly/2JpVUww
