Unsafe slime to avoid this Christmas - Which? investigates

We tested slime from a range of online and high street stores and found that more than 40% fail the EU safety standard for toys. Which? lab tested 13 slimes and putties to see whether the childrens' toys on sale for Christmas contain safe levels of boron. It's potentially dangerous to be exposed to excessive levels of the chemical which could cause health issues such as vomiting, developmental delays and fertility issues. Our investigation found that more than 40% of the slimes and putties that we tested contain too much boron to be on sale. The worst slime we tested had more than four and a half times the permitted level of boron. This was the Essenson DIY slime kit which was bought from Amazon. We passed our findings on to the manufacturers of the slimes and the retailers we bought them from, asking for them to be removed from sale. Amazon told us “The product in question is no longer available.” If you’ve bought one of these slimes, our advice is to stop playing with it immediately.
