What makes the perfect quality street tin? Which? investigates

Ever wondered why your favourite Quality Street chocolates are the first to go? It might be time to stop blaming your family – there really are fewer of our favourites, according to recent Which? research. What our video to find out how many of your favourite Christmas chocolates are in the average Quality Street tin. In October 2018, we asked over 10,000 Which? members to choose their preferred Quality Street chocolate. Then, using our popularity data, we’ve worked out the perfect Quality Street tin for our members. What’s the perfect tin for Which? members? 11 Purple Ones; 10 Green Triangles; 8 Orange Crèmes; 8 Fudges; 6 Caramel Swirls; 6 Toffee Fingers; 5 Strawberry Delights; 4 Milk Choc Blocks; 4 Toffee Deluxes; 4 Coconut Eclairs; 4 Toffee Pennys; 4 Orange Crunches. Nestle told us that while it does take the nation’s favourites into consideration, it balances out the tins by categorising its components into three types, which each make up a third of the total. These are: fruit crèmes, chocolates and caramel/fudges. That’s why there are more Strawberry Delights than Purple Ones – the Purple One is a member of a larger chocolate category, while the Strawberry Delight is just one of two fruit crèmes. We also counted and rated Cadbury’s Heroes, Mars Celebrations and Cadbury’s Roses.
